【FOCUS】Global 70% PPE Resin Supply Disrupted, PCB Prices Surge
According to a report by CCTV Financial News, the impact of the Middle East conflict is extending from energy markets further into the electronics supply chain. Reporters learned that Saudi Arabia's Jubail Industrial City, which previously supplied approximately 70% of the world's PPE resin, had already halted production as early as the end of March this year due to shipping disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz. Resin is a critical material used in the manufacturing of printed circuit boards (PCBs), with PPE resin being primarily used in high-end products. It is important to note that PCBs are the "nervous system" of electronic devices – from smartphones and laptops to routers and AI servers, almost all modern electronics rely on them. Experts say that if the resin supply disruption continues into this autumn, consumers will truly feel the pressure of price increases. Recently, a report from Goldman Sachs showed that PCB prices in April alone rose by up to 40% compared to March. Shares of U.S. PCB manufacturer TTM Technologies have surged over 400% in the past year. |
